strange links I've been receiving strange links from one of our members emails. It appears that their email may have been hacked and an auto-bot has been sending advertisements from them to me. If you are having a similar problem install and run Spybot search and destroy. Just do a search for Spybot in google. It is a free download and it worked for me when this happened in the past. I am running it again and I hope it's not affecting you, but if it has this spybot works. Many Blessings, Kim Sunday, July 31, 2011
Healthy Planet Dining out Saturday August 20th Hello Everyone, We have found a lovely Italian Restaurant in Titusville for our August event. The owner is a very nice man who is excited to have us and has been very helpful and accommodating. Healthy Planet dinner July 16th Hello Healthy Planeteers :) Let's spread the word about how wonderful and delicious eating a vegan meal can be. Invite your friends and neighbors, especially if they live in North Brevard. Remember, ANYONE, can eat a vegan meal once in a while. The carnivores will let them back in :) and every time they have a vegan meal is one more time they see how much better it feels and what fun we are:) Hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July. We have just returned from our trip to England where we had a delightful time with Rich's family and enjoyed exploring the Berkshire country side. While we were there we were living examples of the benefits of vegan living and the family took a great interest in what we do. We taught Rich's sister and niece about pro-biotics,( Allison and her family were also visiting from Holland and when they arrived she had a "cold") and how to sprout. We ate lots of lentil sprouts, in salads and as breakfast with fruits, they are so versatile:), and they were intrigued by that so we shared and they loved them. There was one day that Rich's sister Sara and her husband spent the day with us on a outing and Sara had a day without dairy. The next morning she recognized that she was not congested the way she usually is in the morning, Amazing:) The results of eating well are immediate:) Sara and Allison were both using soy yogurt and soy milk when we left. Did they stop eating meat? Not yet, but every little change we make has an enormous effect on the world:) Today soy milk, tomorrow tofu ;) I hope the Independence from meat picnic was a huge success. We were sorry to miss it. We were delighted to see how vegan friendly the English are. In preparation for the trip we did a lot of dehydrating and we packed in a lot of food so we'd be sure to have what we needed. Now that we've been we will be much more relaxed in the future. Finding organic veggies and vegan options was easy. Waitrose is the English equivalent of our Publix and they have a huge selection of Organic produce, as well as packaged organic products. We also found an organic co-op not far from where we stayed that sells produce and packaged foods. There are a couple of organic farms and some farmer's markets as well, we didn't have time to do it all this trip... Most of the restaurants, we looked at the menus everywhere even though we ate home most of the time, have vegan or vegetarian selections clearly marked on the menu and lots of them had gluten-free options as well. This happened in England because there was a demand for it. It can happen here too:) Part of what we do is educate the community about the vegan lifestyle. The dining out events are more than just an opportunity for us to gather and enjoy a meal together, it's an opportunity for us to show the restaurant owners that there is a great demand for vegan menu's. This month the Healthy Planet of Brevard Dining Out will be hosted by Nature's Market in Melbourne (map/directions here: http://goo.gl/BXNMk) on July 16th @ 5:30pm. Rich and I had a chance to speak with Anil ( the owner) at the end of the evening. He was pleased with the event and mentioned that he's in the process of preparing a menu that identifies the vegan options and that he has many more dishes to offer so next time we can try different dishes. We were please to see everyone enjoying good company while we waited for the buffet to be ready as well. We love organizing the events, and the best part is it offers us the chance to communicate with all of you and get to know you better. OOPs Yes, please RSVP:) Hello Again, It's been brought to my attention that I did not ask for RSVP in the last email. Yes, please let us know if you plan to come. Of course we can usually make room for last minute decisions, especially when it's buffet, but we do like to give the restaurant a pretty accurate head count a couple days before the event. So if you've already replied, thanks:) and if you haven't please let us know by Tuesday 6/14, Thanks. Also,if you are not familiar with Indian food, I encourage you to try it out. I had never eaten Indian until a couple of years ago because I thought it was all "hot" and spicy. I now know that I was wrong. Yes they have some "hot" things, but for the most part, I've found that the spices used are flavorful, delicious and mild. So, if you've never had Indian, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a try. Hope to see you there,Kim :) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Kim Smith <hpobdiningout@gmail.com> Date: Sat, Jun 11, 2011 at 3:38 PM Subject: Taste of India Menu details for the HPOB Dining Out on 18th June at 5 pm To: hpobdiningout@gmail.com Hello Everyone, The menu at last :) This month's Healthy Planet Dining Out will be at A Taste of India in Melbourne. June 18 Hello Everyone, We've had a change of plans. There was a scheduling mix up with Nature's Market so we're going to try to get there in July. For this month we are going to be dining at A Taste of India on Wickham Rd. in Melbourne. They do what I hear is a delicious buffet and since the buffets have been so well received this should be a great event. Anil was very happy to accommodate us and he will be sending me a menu and price to forward to you soon. Please mark your calendars for June 18th at 5:30pm. Once again, this is an open invitation so invite your friends and neighbors. We hope to See you all there:) P.S. Remember May 21st:) Here's your friendly reminder.....This month's dining out is just a week away:) If you haven't made your reservations yet, why not reply while you're reading this email? I'm the worst....God Bless Barbara, I was always getting in just at (or after, lol) the deadline because I tend read through my email quickly and intend to "do that later" ... So if this sounds familiar to you, I truly understand and that's why I send so many reminders, cause I needed them:) So if you have replied, please forgive me....if you haven't just click reply now while your thinking about it, and let's eat, drink and be vegan ;) This month our Dining Out will be held at Azteca II in Cocoa Beach on May 21st. at 6pm.
Ronie has put together a wonderful buffet menu for us. I was please to learn from him that they regularly prepare their beans without lard and the rice has a tomato base; no chicken stock, there is no sour cream in the guacamole :) Azteca II is already vegan friendly, let's show them we appreciate it.
Please feel free to share this email with others you think might be interested in a delicious meal with good company... That would be everybody :) Take a look at the diversity of our membership. Vegans come in all forms. We are executives, service providers, engineers, retirees, and students. Part of what HPOB does is introduce the vegan lifestyle and provide education on the values and benefits of living it. Our events are always open to all.
Please reply directly to hpobdiningout@gmail.com with RSVPs or with questions.
Celebrate your good health :) Kim & Rich
